NSDR Protocols | What are they and how to use them

NSDR Protocols

NSDR Protocols are techniques to help you enter a self-directed internal calm state. Yoga Nidra, breathwork or hypnosis.

NSDR protocols can improve brain plasticity and, therefore, cement learning.

They also help you relax, reduce anxiety, and fall asleep more easily.

Following 90 minutes of hard work, a short internally focused relaxation will put you in a state of Non-Sleep Deep Rest.

Research shows that being in a state of relaxation and high focus drastically improves neuroplasticity. This means you learn much faster and retain the new information much longer.

Andrew Huberman promotes two specific NSDR protocols: Yoga Nidra and self-guided hypnosis. Both guide you into a state of focus linked with relaxation.

What is a Yoga Nidra NSDR Protocol?

Yoga Nidra means Yoga Sleep. A Yoga Nidra NSDR Protocol involves following a guided meditation (called a script) to enter a self-directed state of calm.

In a Yoga Nidra NSDR protocol, you are led by an instructor who reads involves a specific script that guides you through a body scan. Your focus is directed sequentially onto different parts of your body.

Yoga Nidra is straightforward; you basically lie down and are led through meditation.

Yoga Nidra is a great choice for a beginner meditator.

You can find out more about the information regarding NSDR on my youtube channel, where I delve into the topic deeper and give you a closer look at what they are, how to use them and further benefits.

You can also find examples of two NSDR recordings I have made for you to reduce stress and anxiety or to recover following a deep bout of work.
