How to Breathe During Ice Baths | Tips for Overcoming the Breathing Response

Ice Bath Breathing

Ice baths are all the rage at the moment, most likely due to Wim Hof’s impact around the world.

However, the cold water plunge results in a vast physiological response to the brain and body. As a result, breathing becomes challenging. If not under control, it will only contribute to more stress, and you will struggle to reach the length required to get the result you wish.

Cold exposure over time can improve the immune system blood flow, reduce inflammation and help aid recovery from exercise; however, for many, it’s all about the mind. That requires focus.

In this video, I will outline the breathing response. Hence, you know what to expect and then a simple technique to overcome the reflection. Please always make sure you perform cold exposure safely and do not if you have a history of cardiac disease. Consult your physician first.
