Discover Your Truth
Take some time and have a good look at yourself in a mirror; it does more than show your reflection. Staring into your own eyes can bring up some truths about the person you are.
A couple of years back, I spent an hour sitting and staring about who I was as a man. I wasn’t who I wanted to be, and I discovered some hidden unresolved anger around my relationship with my father and the effect that was having in my mentality. I realised that I was very similar, yet very different. It was at that point I realised that I was a man of my own, and had a choice in who I wish to become.
By labelling all the parts I didn’t like about myself, I was one by one able to strip away that part of my personality to become a new version of myself. But I had to do the work.
By being brutally honest with who you are now. You can let go of the past and give yourself a new sense of direction – the pathway to living your truth.
Write down the parts of yourself you dislike and then think about the behaviours you need to change to become the person you wish to be. For me, that was someone interesting. I knew I had to develop more character and to improve my ability to communicate with others.
What behaviours do you need to work on?
